Basketball Game Preview: Buchanan Bears vs. Clovis West Golden Eagles

Buchanan hasn't had much luck against Clovis West recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bears will venture away from home to take on the Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Buchanan has given up an average of 50.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Buchanan is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since November 29, 2025 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Central East 77-34. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Bears' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clovis West). They claimed a resounding 118-20 win over Clovis East. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Clovis West's victory bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Buchanan, their loss dropped their record down to 16-4.

Buchanan was dealt a bruising 85-36 defeat at the hands of Clovis West in their previous matchup back in February of 2025. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
