Football Game Preview: Hillgrove Hawks vs. South Cobb Eagles + How To Watch

The Hillgrove Hawks will head out to face off against the South Cobb Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hillgrove's defense has only allowed 8.7 points per game this season, so South Cobb's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Hillgrove is headed into Thursday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They fell 30-23 to Harrison on Friday. The matchup was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Hawks couldn't quite close it out.

Hillgrove might have lost, but man, Jaiden Moore was a machine: he rushed for 213 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.8 yards per carry.

While Hillgrove came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Harrison: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 47.6%. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for the Hawks; they were averaging 64.8%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 64.8%.

Meanwhile, South Cobb played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against McEachern, falling 56-18. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Indians are ranked sixth).

South Cobb's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Hillgrove, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.

Everything came up roses for Hillgrove against South Cobb when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 53-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
