Basketball Recap: Johansen Comes Up Short

Johansen was the 40-34 winner over Pacheco when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Johansen Vikings had to suffer through a 60-33 loss at the hands of the Pacheco Panthers. The Vikings' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Johansen still got an impressive performance from Isis Bankston, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joy Ige, who earned seven points along with nine boards and six steals.

Pacheco was led to victory by Mary Tava and Ashley Jimenez. Tava had 15 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals, while Jimenez almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten steals. What's more, Jimenez also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Sasha Siemiller was another key player, putting up eight points and five steals.

Johansen's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Pacheco, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.

Johansen wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 50-47 loss against Lathrop on the 14th. As for Pacheco, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-50 victory against Ceres on the 14th.
