Football Recap: Sultana Takes a Loss

Sultana was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Liberty Bison, falling 35-13. The Sultans were not able to make up for their loss to the Bison from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Sultana lost, don't look at Dell Hester. Despite the final result, he rushed for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also picked up 83 receiving yards.

Trent Hallis was a one-man wrecking crew For Liberty. as he rushed for 121 yards and three scores while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. That's the most rushing touchdowns Hallis has posted since back in August of 2024.

Sultana's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Liberty, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Sultana will head out on the road to take on Victor Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Liberty, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hesperia at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
