Basketball Preview: Linden Lions vs. Stagg Delta Kings
The Linden Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Stagg Delta Kings at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Linden has struggled recently with 11 defeats in a row, while the Delta Kings will arrive with 12 straight victories.
Last Thursday, Linden suffered a tough 51-27 loss at the hands of the Vikings. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Linden in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Stagg earned a 59-51 victory over the Eagles on Thursday.
Stagg relied on the efforts of Destiny Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds, and Jameelah Pharms, who scored 20 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Pharms has scored at least a third of Stagg's points. Another player making a difference was Kayla Ogle, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 20 rebounds.
Linden dropped their record down to 1-25 with that loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Stagg, their victory bumped their record up to 17-9.
Linden took a serious blow against the Delta Kings in their previous meeting back in January, falling 66-20. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Linden was down 37-9.
