Softball Game Preview: Clayton Greyhounds vs. University City Lions

The Clayton Greyhounds will square off against the University City Lions at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

University City will be up against a hot Clayton squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Greyhounds blew past Normandy 22-5 on Wednesday. Considering the Greyhounds have won four matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, University City made easy work of Hazelwood East on Thursday and carried off a 14-6 victory. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won seven in a row.

University City now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Clayton, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything went Clayton's way against University City in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as Clayton made off with a 26-13 win. Will the Greyhounds repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
