Basketball Recap: Miramonte Matadors vs. Berean Christian Eagles

Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 12 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact the Miramonte Matadors proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against Berean Christian by a score of 48-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Miramonte.

Karena Eberts was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Miramonte's points. Another player making a difference was Robin Parmelee, who scored 14 points along with two steals.

Berean Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabrielle Abigor, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadee Salvador, who scored 15 points.

Miramonte is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Berean Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.

Miramonte will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Alhambra will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 519th, while the Matadors are ranked 186th). As for Berean Christian, they will head out on the road to take on the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Concord focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 43 last Monday.
