Football Game Preview: Midlothian Heritage Jaguars vs. Poteet Pirates + How To Watch

The Midlothian Heritage Jaguars will challenge the Poteet Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Midlothian Heritage strolled past Crandall with points to spare, taking the game 52-35. The victory continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won eight in a row.

It was another big night for Dax Montelongo, who rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 178 yards and three TDs while completing 78.3% of his passes. Midlothian Heritage is 3-1 when Montelongo posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Za'Ko Davis, who gained 139 total yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Midlothian Heritage was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 313 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Midlothian Heritage didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jackson Ware and Brayden Abila.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Poteet, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on Kaufman with a sharp 31-7 win on Friday. Considering the Pirates have won three games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Midlothian Heritage better keep an eye on Dylan Davis. He was instrumental in Poteet's win, rushing for 214 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Those 214 rushing yards gave Davis a new career-high. Isaiah Hall was another key player, rushing for 111 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries.

Poteet's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Midlothian Heritage, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Everything came up roses for Midlothian Heritage against Poteet in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-0 win. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
