Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Whitney Pioneers vs. Redwood Rangers

Mt. Whitney is 1-9 against Redwood since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Mt. Whitney Pioneers are taking a road trip to square off against the Redwood Rangers at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Mt. Whitney is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They received a blow as they fell 40-26 to Porterville.

Meanwhile, Redwood came up short against El Diamante on Tuesday and fell 62-53. The Rangers have struggled against the Miners recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Mt. Whitney will have to contain Jazmaine Stewart as she made an impact in Redwood's last game. She dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten boards. Stewart is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jordan Powell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

Redwood's loss dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Mt. Whitney, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Mt. Whitney took a serious blow against Redwood in their previous matchup back in January, falling 57-29. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Stewart, who went 9 for 13 en route to 22 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Now that Mt.
