Sabrina Cerrillo leads a balanced attack to beat Madera South

Recap: Torres Toros vs. Madera South Stallions

The Torres Toros waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins but they left with three. They secured a 40-34 W over Madera South. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Torres also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Torres' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sabrina Cerrillo, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Cerrillo hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Chavez, who scored nine points along with three steals.

Madera South's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was BRIANNAH LORTA, who scored 18 points. MICHELLE CORONA was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Torres' win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Madera South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-13.

Torres will head out on the road to square off against Roosevelt at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Roosevelt will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Madera South will take on Sunnyside at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sunnyside is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
