Preview: Southern Huntingdon County Rockets vs. Williamsburg Blue Pirates
Two dominant guards in Haley Ross and Leeanna Royer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Southern Huntingdon County Rockets will head out on the road to take on the Williamsburg Blue Pirates at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Southern Huntingdon County had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They blew past Claysburg-Kimmel, posting a 71-23 win on the road. That looming 71-23 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Southern Huntingdon County yet this season.
Williamsburg posted their biggest win since December 27, 2023 on Monday. They blew past West Branch 56-28 on the road. The victory was nothing new for Williamsburg as they're now sitting on 11 straight.
Williamsburg relied on the efforts of Ayla Hileman, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds, and Levada Gorsuch, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hileman has scored at least a third of Williamsburg's points. Another player making a difference was Royer, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Southern Huntingdon County pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. As for Williamsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 15-1.
