Baseball Recap: Wallington Comes Up Short

Wallington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 13-6 to the Hawthorne Bears.

Ayden Sanchez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Kassteen, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Wallington's loss dropped their record down to 15-12-1. As for Hawthorne, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13.

Coming up, Wallington will challenge Hawthorne Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Hawthorne, they will take on Elmwood Park at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.58 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
