Softball Recap: Seven Straight Home Wins for Academy for Classical Education

Academy for Classical Education barely beat Washington County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gryphons' pitchers stepped up to hand the Golden Hawks a 13-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Gryphons, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Avery Stone was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Kinsley Lineberger was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Academy for Classical Education pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Washington County, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy for Classical Education will square off against Jefferson County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.13 runs per game on average), something the Gryphons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Washington County, they will challenge Northeast at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
