Soccer Game Preview: Stockdale vs. Garces Memorial

The Stockdale Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Garces Memorial Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stockdale will be strutting in after a victory while Garces Memorial will be coming in after a defeat.

Stockdale will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Thursday, then bounced right back against Frontier on Tuesday. Stockdale was the clear victor by a 5-1 margin over Frontier. Considering the Mustangs have won 12 contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, after soaring to five goals the game before, Garces Memorial was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They fell just short of Centennial by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rams came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Golden Hawks are ranked 427th).

Garces Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 15-2-1. As for Stockdale, their win bumped their record up to 15-4-2.

Stockdale suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Garces Memorial in their previous matchup on January 14th. Can Stockdale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
