Softball Recap: Mcloud Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

McLoud and North Rock Creek pushed the score to 15-5 the last time they played North Rock Creek, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Redskins' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 3-0 shutout. Three seems to be a good number for the Redskins as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Not much got past Elexias Patterson, who gave up just seven hits to keep North Rock Creek off the board. Patterson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, McLoud saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayse Higdon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

McLoud is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for North Rock Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-6.

Looking ahead, McLoud will venture away from home to take on Harrah at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Redskins 2.7, the Panthers 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for North Rock Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mannford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
