Baseball Recap: Mapleton Takes a Loss

Western Reserve hit Mapleton with a eight-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mounties lost 14-4 to the Roughriders. The loss continues a trend for the Mounties in their meetings with the Roughriders: they've now lost three in a row.

Mapleton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bentley Workman, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Mapleton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Western Reserve, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mapleton will challenge South Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Western Reserve, they will square off against Margaretta at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Polar Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Roughriders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
