Baseball Game Preview: Brick Memorial Mustangs vs. Howell Rebels

The Brick Memorial Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Howell Rebels at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Brick Memorial narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Hightstown 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Howell was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Point Pleasant Boro by a score of 7-2.

Andrew Morin looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Acker, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Derek Liotti was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.

Howell now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Brick Memorial, their record is now 21-10.

Brick Memorial couldn't quite get it done against Howell in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
