            Softball Recap: Mullen Mustangs vs. Rangeview Raiders        
        
		
        
        
            While Mullen's  win against Rangeview wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs skirted past the Raiders  12-10. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
 Bayla Slucki made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Slucki was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 3-for-5 with one  home run, three  runs,  and one  stolen base. That  home run was  her first of the season.
 In other batting news, Mullen let  Haddie Slucki and  Roslyn Frequez run wild. Slucki  went 1-for-3 with two  runs, one  triple,  and one  stolen base, while  Frequez  went 3-for-4 with two  runs, two  doubles,  and one  RBI. That  triple marked the first that  Slucki has  hit this season.  Avery Oates was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run.
 Mullen  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rangeview struck out ten times.
Mullen's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Rangeview, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four matches. That's still a better percentage than their 1-5-1 record  this season.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mullen will square off against Niwot at 3:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Rangeview, they will face off against Denver North at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 9  runs per game this season.
