Meanwhile, Belmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 62-20 loss at the hands of Bernstein. The Sentinels were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-3.

Contreras' win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 2-10. As for Belmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Everything came up roses for Contreras against Belmont in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 36-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Contreras since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
