Soccer Game Preview: Peninsula vs. Citrus Valley

The Peninsula Panthers will take on the Citrus Valley Blackhawks in a tournament on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Peninsula and eight for Citrus Valley.

Last Wednesday, Peninsula didn't have quite enough to beat South and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 280th, while the Spartans are ranked 64th).

Peninsula's goal came courtesy of Allie Chang, who's now up to six this season.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Citrus Valley after they claimed the first goal on Thursday, however, they wouldn't score again. They fell just short of Yucaipa by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Blackhawks have lost by just one goal.

Peninsula now has a losing record at 3-4-1. As for Citrus Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
