Baseball Game Preview: Belgrade Panthers vs. Skyview Falcons

The Belgrade Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Skyview Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Belgrade has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Belgrade is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Montana's top teams: Billings West, who was ranked eighth at the time (Belgrade was ranked 15th). The Panthers lost 20-5 to the Golden Bears on Thursday. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Skyview won against Russell on Wednesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Falcons put the hurt on Billings Senior with a sharp 11-3 win. The Falcons not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25th (when they won 19-0).

Roman Sloan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

Skyview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Billings Senior only posted an OBP of .300.

The victory made it two in a row for Skyview and bumps their season record up to 5-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Belgrade, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Belgrade was able to grind out a solid victory over Skyview in their previous meeting back in April, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
