Recap: Wood Wildcats vs. Rodriguez Mustangs
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Vanden, the Wood Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 50-38 win over Rodriguez. For Wood, this counts as revenge for the 55-54 loss Rodriguez walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Wood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Natalia Sanchez led the charge by scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Mikyah Dixon was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 14 rebounds and two steals.
Wood now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Rodriguez, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wood will take on Grant at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Grant presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wood in California (Grant is ranked 117th, while Wood is ranked 479th). As for Rodriguez, they will be playing at home against Fairfield at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
