Softball Recap: Akron-Westfield Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

Akron-Westfield entered their tilt with River Valley on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wolverines an 8-0 shutout. Eight seems to be a good number for the Westerners as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Akron-Westfield pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for River Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Coming up, Akron-Westfield will head out to face off against West Sioux at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for River Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-1 victory against Alta-Aurelia on the 28th.
