Football Recap: Erik Olivas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Goddard over Andover + How To Watch

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Goddard and Andover, and Andover kept the tradition alive. The Lions fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 19-16 on Friday. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Erik Olivas, who rushed for 114 yards and one TD while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 74 yards. Bryer Rojas also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.

Andover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Barrett Hill led the charge by rushing for 96 yards and one score on only eight carries.

Goddard now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Andover, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Goddard wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 36-17 win against Newton on the 26th. As for Andover, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 31-0 victory against Arkansas City on the 26th.
