Football Game Preview: Winfield Generals vs. Shady Spring Tigers

The Winfield Generals are taking a road trip to challenge the Shady Spring Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Winfield put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 58-21 win over Ripley. The Generals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 36 points or more this season.

Winfield's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jared Miller, who rushed for 108 yards and one score on only eight carries, and Gannon Boggs, who rushed for 178 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Miller also passed for three passing touchdowns, which is notable because the Generals are undefeated when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Aiden Tate was in the mix as well, providing Winfield with two TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Winfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 351 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Shady Spring had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 40-20 margin over Liberty on Friday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Winfield's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Shady Spring, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-3.
