Basketball Recap: Edison Vikings vs. Mountain House Mustangs
Edison lost against Mountain House back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Edison Vikings were dealt a 62-28 loss at the hands of the Mountain House Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 590th, while the Mustangs are ranked 162nd).
Edison's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aniyah Wilson, who posted ten points and five steals. Mary Grady was another key player, putting up six points and 13 rebounds.
Mountain House had a senior duo take command as Jariah Indalecio dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards and Niaja Harris earned 16 points in addition to seven assists and six steals. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for Harris. Safa Massar also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
This is the second loss in a row for Edison and nudges their season record down to 8-11. As for Mountain House, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.
Edison wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 54-17 win against Bear Creek on the 28th. As for Mountain House, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-43 victory against Sierra on the 30th.
