Baseball Game Preview: Dunlap Eagles vs. Springfield Senators

The Dunlap Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Springfield Senators at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Saturday, Dunlap came up short against Freeburg and fell 5-2. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Springfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Litchfield on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Purple Panthers by a score of 7-6.

Karter Marks made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Scheffler, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

Dunlap now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Dunlap was able to grind out a solid win over Springfield in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
