Basketball Recap: Cheylin Cougars vs. Logan/Palco
After a string of three wins, the Cheylin Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Logan/Palco on the road and fell 68-39. Cheylin was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Cheylin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Pablo Bermudez. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. Bermudez is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last ten games he's played. Logan McCarty was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Cheylin struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Logan/Palco pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Rhett Kats continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Logan/Palco, scoring 26 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Kats is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Prewo, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Cheylin's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Logan/Palco, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Cheylin is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Coyotes at 3:30 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Logan/Palco, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Northern Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
