Basketball Game Preview: Brockway Rovers vs. Punxsutawney Chucks

Brockway is 0-4 against Punxsutawney since January of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Rovers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chucks at 7:30 p.m.

Brockway is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Elk County Catholic on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Rovers lost 50-26 to the Crusaders. The Rovers were down 39-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the defeat, Brockway had strong showings from Sophia Schmader, who posted 12 points and six boards, and Emma Rice, who had seven points. Those points marked the first that Rice has scored this season.

Meanwhile, Punxsutawney took their matchup last Wednesday with ease, bagging a 52-7 victory over Johnsonburg. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chucks.

Brockway's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Punxsutawney, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Brockway took a serious blow against Punxsutawney when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 43-12. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Rovers were down 28-2.
