Recap: CORE Butte Lynx vs. Hayfork Timberjacks
The CORE Butte Lynx's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 33-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hayfork. CORE Butte lost against Hayfork in their previous head to head back in December of 2016, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-44 score last time.
Several Lynx players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gabriella Servin-Lacy, who scored eight points. Hollyn Merrick was another key contributor, scoring six points.
CORE Butte's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Hayfork, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. CORE Butte won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Princeton at 5:30 p.m. on December 14th. Princeton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Hayfork, they will head out on the road to face off against Happy Camp at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
