Basketball Game Preview: Masterman vs. Imhotep Charter Panthers

Masterman are taking a road trip to square off against the Imhotep Charter Panthers at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Masterman comes in on four and Imhotep Charter on 12.

Last Tuesday, Masterman beat Abraham Lincoln 48-35.

Masterman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Peyton Simmons led the charge by putting up 16 points. The dominant performance gave Simmons a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Goldstein, who posted 18 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Imhotep Charter). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Science Leadership Academy at Beeber 70-11. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Imhotep Charter pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points over those games. As for Masterman, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.

Masterman was dealt a bruising 54-24 defeat at the hands of Imhotep Charter in their previous meeting back in January. Can Masterman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
