Baseball Recap: West Forsyth Gets the Win

While West Forsyth's victory against Forsyth Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolverines sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Bulldogs on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolverines have posted since March 7th.

Colton Sweat made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Drew Cribb tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

Back at the plate, Miles Hasty was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Justin Gillham, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for West Forsyth and bumps their season record up to 14-15. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Forsyth Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-25 record this season.

West Forsyth will have a chance to go back-to-back against Forsyth Central: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
