Softball Recap: O'neill Wins Going Away Against South Sioux City

O'Neill won the last time they faced South Sioux City and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Eagles blew past the Cardinals 14-2. Considering the Eagles have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emerson Mlnarik was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Drueke, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

O'Neill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive matchups.

O'Neill is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Sioux City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-22 record this season.

O'Neill didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-2 victory against Chadron on the 2nd. As for South Sioux City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-2 loss against Mercy on the 2nd.
