Basketball Recap: Patriot Takes a Loss

After flying high against Jurupa Valley last Monday, Patriot came back down to earth. The Patriot Warriors were beaten by the Ramona Rams 61-28 on Wednesday. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.

Patriot's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laela Perez, who posted six points and four steals. Perez has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Kayla Gonzalez was another key player, putting up eight points and five steals.

Leading Ramona to victory were Jaiden Tibbels and Diana Najera. Tibbels scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Najera almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals. That's the most assists Tibbels has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Olivia Molina, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Patriot's loss dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Ramona, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5.

As of now, neither Patriot nor Ramona have any future games scheduled.
