Soccer Recap: Gilroy Comes Up Short

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Gilroy's offense. They fell just short of the Branham Bruins by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 444th, while the Bruins are ranked 83rd).

Gilroy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6-1. As for Branham, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-0-4 record this season.

Gilroy will be playing in front of their home fans against Leland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gilroy's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end. As for Branham, they will venture away from home to challenge Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Branham is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.8 goals per game this season.
