Basketball Recap: Ceres Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Ceres extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-3. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Riverbank Bruins. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly five points.

When it comes to explaining why Ceres lost, don't look at Lilly Staggs. Despite the final result, she posted 21 points. Sovannary Carter was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 19 rebounds.

As for Riverbank, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points over those games.

Riverbank got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Leilani Olanolan out in front who scored 15 points and six steals. The contest was Olanolan's third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Isa Fernandez, who put up 12 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals.

Looking ahead, Ceres will head out on the road to face off against Patterson at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Riverbank, they will be taking part in a tournament against Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
