Basketball Recap: St. Helena Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 17-17 at halftime, St. Helena was not quite Middletown's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell 39-29 to the Middletown Mustangs. The Saints lost against the Mustangs in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 63-17 score last time.

Despite the defeat, St. Helena saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tessa Barrett posted 12 points and five boards.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Helena and nudges their season record down to 7-8. As for Middletown, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.

St. Helena has already played their next contest, a 42-41 win against Fort Bragg on the 17th. As for Middletown, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-24 victory against Upper Lake on the 17th.
