Softball Recap: Aspen Find Success

Aspen was forced to take a big loss against Moffat County on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Tuesday. The Skiers put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 22-7 victory. With that win, the Skiers brought their scoring average up to 7.9 runs per game.

Kahler Marsh made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs but no hits. Marsh was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ainsley Loeb was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Mavrovic, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs.

Aspen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Aspen's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Moffat County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-8.

Aspen has already played their next matchup, a 16-0 loss against Meeker on the 25th. As for Moffat County, they will host Cedaredge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 12.2 runs per game this season.
