Football Game Preview: Udall Eagles vs. Oxford Wildcats

The Udall Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Oxford Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Udall has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with six straight losses, while Oxford will come in with five straight victories.

Udall's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against South Central on Friday. They were beaten by the Timberwolves 56-0. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Timberwolves are ranked second).

Meanwhile, Oxford won against Skyline last Friday with 46 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Wildcats took their matchup with ease, bagging a 46-6 win over Kiowa County. Fans of the Wildcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Udall better keep an eye on Logan Gaither. He was instrumental in Oxford's win, rushing for 230 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 32 yards and one touchdown. Gaither is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Wyatt Gaither got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Oxford was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 285 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 241 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Oxford didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Xzavier McClamy, Gaither, and Wyatt picked up one apiece. Wyatt got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Oxford's record is now 5-0. As for Udall, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Udall was taken down by Oxford 54-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
