Softball Recap: Nine Straight Home Wins for Golden

There's no place like home for Golden, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Green Mountain Rams on Saturday as they made off with a 14-3 win. Considering the Demons have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Adrianna Riddle made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in August.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Welte, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run. Lucca Merz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Golden hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Golden's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Green Mountain, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-8.

Coincidentally, Golden and Green Mountain will both be playing Wheat Ridge the next time they take the field. The Demons will host the Farmers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rams will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
