Basketball Recap: Temple City Piles Up the Points Against Monrovia

Temple City posted their biggest victory since December 17, 2024 on Monday. They blew past the Monrovia Wildcats 58-31. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.

Temple City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kristi Huynh out in front who went 8 of 17 en route to 21 points in addition to five boards and five steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Huynh has scored at least a third of Temple City's points. Another player making a difference was Alexis Yoshimura, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Temple City was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Monrovia had strong showings from Isabella Lett, who posted nine points and eight boards, and Esmerelda Cortez, who put up six points. Lett continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Temple City now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Monrovia, they dropped their record down to 4-13 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Temple City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-41 loss against La Canada on the 22nd. As for Monrovia, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-16 victory against Blair on the 22nd.
