Basketball Game Preview: Kofa Kings vs. The Gregory School Hawks

The Kofa Kings and The Gregory School Hawks will face off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with eight losses in a row dating back to last season, Kofa turned things around against Santa Rita on Friday. They managed a 47-42 win over the Eagles.

Kofa found their leader in sophomore Mark Mercado, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mercado has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Negrete, who posted 11 points and six boards.

Kofa was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, The Gregory School strolled past Amphitheater with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 74-58.

Kofa's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for The Gregory School, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
