Basketball Recap: Etna Takes a Loss

Etna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by the Modoc Braves 63-27. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-12.

Modoc was led to victory by Katie Erquiaga and Jordyn Sandage. Erquiaga went 6-for-11 on her way to 12 points along with eight rebounds and six steals, while Sandage went 5-for-12 en route to 17 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Sandage is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Allie Weber, who posted nine points.

Etna's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Modoc, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 19 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Etna will take on Trinity at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Modoc, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Fall River at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Modoc is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.
