Baseball Game Preview: Kankakee Valley Kougars vs. Munster Mustangs

For the second straight game, Kankakee Valley will face off against Munster. The Kougars will venture away from home to take on the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Monday just wasn't the day for Kankakee Valley's offense. They came up short against Munster on Monday, falling 16-0. The Kougars haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

For Munster's part, Oliver Swinson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Munster got a massive performance out of Danny Schassburger, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Luke Zelaya was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Munster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2025.

The win (which was Munster's third in a row) raised their record to 20-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Kankakee Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-13.
