Softball Recap: Marquette Gets the Win

Marquette proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Somonauk Bobcats 4-3. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Lily Brewer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Hunter Hopkins also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Marquette's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Somonauk, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5-1.

Marquette didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-6 victory against Dwight on the 16th. As for Somonauk, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-7 loss against Rochelle on the 17th.
