Softball Recap: Holy Family Victorious

Holy Family lost to Grandview back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Wolves 4-3.

Emmaline Humphreys made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 21 over ten innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one RBI.

Humphreys wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addie Whitworth, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Holy Family hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.

Holy Family is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Grandview, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Coming up, Holy Family will take on Ponderosa in a tournament on Friday. As for Grandview, they will welcome Grand Junction Central at 1:15 p.m. on Friday.
