Basketball Recap: Aubrey Aldan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ridgeview over Roosevelt

Ridgeview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 51-43 to the Roosevelt Rough Riders. While losing is never fun, the Wolf Pack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 616th, while the Rough Riders are ranked 145th).

Ridgeview's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubrey Aldan, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyla Jackson, who had 11 points.

Roosevelt found their leader in sophomore Nyleigh Gregory, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Gregory has scored at least a third of Roosevelt's points. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Reese, who earned eight points and six rebounds.

Ridgeview now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Roosevelt, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Ridgeview wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-52 defeat against Shafter on the 27th. As for Roosevelt, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-52 win against Cabrillo on the 27th.
