Soccer Game Preview: Encinal vs. Berkeley

Encinal hasn't had much luck against Berkeley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Jets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Encinal managed to keep up with Alameda until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Jets lost 4-1 to the Hornets. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Berkeley hadn't done well against Monte Vista recently (they were 0-8-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Yellowjackets' defense stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 1-0 shutout. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Berkeley were the better team in the second half.

Berkeley's victory bumped their record up to 6-2-2. As for Encinal, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
