Basketball Recap: Murray Takes a Loss

Murray suffered their biggest defeat since December 30, 2024 on Friday. They were beaten by the Highland Rams 91-57. The Spartans lost against the Rams in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 69-58 score last time.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mason Mitchell, who shot 83% from the field on his way to 13 points and six boards. Roman Israyelyan was another key player, going 5-for-11 to rack up 13 points.

Jordan Oberholtzer was a one-man wrecking crew For Highland. as he shot 78% from beyond the arc en route to 25 points along with five assists and three steals. Those 25 points gave Oberholtzer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Drisdom, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 13 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Murray's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Murray will welcome Woods Cross at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Highland, they will be playing at home against Lehi at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
