Basketball Recap: Mira Monte Takes a Loss

Mira Monte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears and fell 53-24.

It was another big night for Evonie Mendoza, who posted 18 points for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mendoza has scored at least a third of Summit Charter Collegiate Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Camille Cruz, who put up 11 points.

Mira Monte's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-5.

Mira Monte and Garces Memorial will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-30 victory against South on the 27th.
